Book Review One Killer Night by Trilina Pucci

One Killer Night by Trilina Pucci

Review

I don’t think I’ve ever read romantic suspense before but boy was I missing out. As someone who enjoys adult romance and is a sucker for suspense/thriller stories, how have I not dabbled into this genre-blend before? Thank the book world for Trilina Pucci and One Killer Night. I can appreciate that she took a risk with this one and am so happy that she delivered.

Pucci sets the tone with the prologue, letting readers know that something horrifying happened some years ago. Then in present day the meet-cute between Noah and Goldie happens, and it couldn’t be more adorable. Their banter and chemistry is done so well and makes their romance believable. Plus the occasional time jumps clue us in as to how their relationship grows. And in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the spicy scenes thrown in.

There’s also flashbacks to clue readers in to what happened years ago at a summer camp and how the tragedy still lingers in present day. We know that Noah has a dark secret and is running from his past. And we suspect it has something to do with the events of the flashbacks. But it isn’t until the last quarter or so of the book that the dots connect. And for yours truly, I did not see some of those connections coming – not to mention the twist during the final showdown.

The story, while entertaining and engaging, loses some points for the slow pace at times. Even so, the characters are likable, the banter is adorable and hilarious, and the cat-and-mouse backdrop make for a fantastic genre-blend and storytelling. And with a cliffhanger I didn’t see coming, I am counting down until the sequel.

One Killer Night is available now.

Book

Love is patient.

Love is kind.

Love will stab you from behind.

It’s Halloween night, and out-of-work writer Goldie Monroe’s trip to the drugstore scares up more than the fake blood she’s looking for. It leads to the man of her naughtiest dreams. And in spite of her costume, sparks fly from the moment they meet.

Noah Adler, aspiring sneaker designer, is impossibly gorgeous—like a tatted-up version of Goldie’s favorite blue-eyed vampire. He’s there for candy, but it’s Goldie he can’t resist. When she invites him to her sister’s F/X company bash, he’s all in without a second thought.

The pair’s flirty connection heats up fast, carrying them to electrifying new heights. But after Goldie discovers Noah is hiding a dark secret, it all starts to crumble. Looking for answers about her own past awakens new dangers, and when Goldie and Noah land at a slasher camp for adults, a deadly tragedy threatens to repeat itself. If they can survive this one killer night, they can definitely slay a happily ever after.
