Review
Howzell Hall makes a strong fantasy debut with The Last One. Right from the start, readers are wondering who Kai is and how she ended up in her current predicament. We learn the details along with Kai, allowing us to put the pieces together with her. While this story is marketed as a romantasy, the chemistry between the two main characters didn’t quite work. Their flirty banter wasn’t something I would call sexy. Also, I can’t remember the last time I hated a character as much as I did Olivia. I appreciated the depth of her character but I wish she had been held accountable for her actions.
